The design should protect recently planted trees in the Ashley Road area and include new landscaping, planting and more tree planting.
We did
We have designed the scheme to avoid the loss of trees and vegetation where possible, particularly those trees of landscape, cultural or wildlife value. For example, we have selected a flood wall adjacent to the allotments to minimise impacts on trees, including native black poplars.
The construction works required to complete the scheme will necessitate the removal of trees along the river corridor and the wider site. However, we will plant significantly more trees than felled (including the planting of native trees along the southern boundary of the proposed flood embankment at Ashley Road). Mature specimens will be planted to ensure that the landscaping looks well-established as soon as possible.
